The most common tool for Ba Guan is jar, which includes glass jars, ceramic jars, bamboo jars, rubber jars, etc. Even the canning jar at home also can be used to be the tool for Ba Guan. You can understand it easily no matter whether you know iatrology, and just cure it anywhere as long as it aches. Glass jars are smooth and transparent, which enables you to watch the conditions of blood congestion, stagnation, forming bubbles and bloodletting inside the jar. So it is often applied in clinic. Another tool for Ba Guan is Tan Zi or called firebrand. Generally, you can hold a jar in one hand, and take the ignited Tan Zi in the other hand. Shake Tan Zi inside the jar for several times, and take it out, then put the jar on the part needed to be cured and lift the jar slightly to see whether it has been sucked in the right place. Please note: do not coat the alcohol on the mouth of the jar or drop the alcohol onto the skin of patients; otherwise it will burn the sufferer. Shan Guan should follow these steps: take down the lifted jar quickly and re-lift the jar. Repeat the procedures for several times. Shan Guan method is often used for the cold symptoms, sweeny, and the point that needs to be strongly stimulated. You have to pay attention to: when the jar is in the repeated lifting, the temperature of the jar itself is raising, so you need to prepare more jars to prevent the skin from burning by using jars alternatively. Zou Guan means that you can raise the jar slightly with one or two hands after the jar-lifting, and pull and push it on your skin. It can move in a direction, and also can move to and fro. So we can say, Zou Guan is not to function at one point, but several points, one part or passage of body channels. The back bladder channel is the common part for Zou Guan. Several points you should notice: to protect your skin, you need to daub some lubricant on the mouth of the jar or the body part that needs Zou Guan, such as: glycerin, olefin oil, and measles scratching oil.
