Zhang Jie, a cheerful and enthusiastic young man from Tajikistan, is currently studying International Chinese Language Education at the School of Chinese Studies in Dalian University of Foreign Languages. His Chinese name "Zhang Jie" was given by his first Chinese language teacher in Tajikistan, carrying the teacher's heartfelt blessings. And he has indeed lived up to the teacher's expectations. Through his hard work and dedication, he earned the opportunity to study abroad in China, arriving in the renowned romantic city - Dalian.
Having grown up in a landlocked country, Zhang Jie saw the sea for the first time in Dalian, and he became deeply fascinated by its vastness and magnificence. At Dalian University of Foreign Languages, he learned a Chinese proverb that left a deep impression on him: "The ocean is vast for it refuses no rivers." This saying about the sea has also become a reflection of his understanding of the Chinese spirit.
In his eyes, China is open and inclusive. At school, he attends classes with students from different countries, learning various knowledge about the Chinese language and culture, and discussing various issues. During his spare time, he often reads by the lake, takes walks on campus and plays badminton and football on the sports field.
One year of studying and living in China has allowed Zhang Jie to further experience the warmth and sincerity of the Chinese people, which prompted him to continue his education after the completion of his exchange program. In 2020, he applied for the International Chinese Language Teachers Scholarship and officially became an undergraduate student majoring in International Chinese Language Education in the Class of 2020 at Dalian University of Foreign Languages.
As Zhang Jie delves deeper into his studies, his affection for China grows stronger, considering it as his second home. He actively participates in various online and offline activities organized by the school, gaining different experiences and reaping a series of accomplishments. The trophies and certificates bear witness to his constant efforts and progress.
Now, Zhang Jie has completed his third year of undergraduate studies and is about to enter the fourth year of the graduation class. As for the future, he already has a clear plan: "In today's Tajikistan, more and more people are learning Chinese. I want to return to my homeland and become a local Chinese language teacher. And I aspire to introduce my homeland to the Chinese people, convey the love and the Chinese spirit that I have experienced in China to my classmates, and share my story with China to more Tajikistani people and foreigners!"
