Center for Chinese Language and Professional Skills at Chonburi Technological College: Build a New Bridge for Sino-Thai Education Cooperation

On April 29, 2024, the Center for Chinese Language and Professional Skills was unveiled at Chonburi Technological College in Thailand, a milestone of the College. It initiates a new stage of cooperation between Shandong Polytechnic College and Chonburi Technological College and adds a significant chapter to the exchange and cooperation between the two countries in education.

At the unveiling ceremony, Somdet Phra Maha Ratchamongkhon Lamuni said that the "Center for Chinese Language and Professional Skills" has greatly contributed to the development of local people and society, the friendship between peoples of Thailand and China, and bilateral relations of the two countries, realizing the beautiful vision of "China and Thailand as one family".

The establishment of the "Center for Chinese Language and Professional Skills" at Chonburi Technological College is a strategic measure to respond to the "Belt and Road" Initiative and to deepen Sino-Thai education cooperation. The Center was jointly established by Shandong Polytechnic College and Chonburi Technological College. The two sides started cooperation in 2021. Relying on the educational resources of the former and the regional advantages of the latter, the "Chinese + TVET" education model was jointly advanced to cultivate versatile talents proficient in Chinese language and professional skills, who meet the talent needs of Thailand Industry 4.0 Strategy and the Eastern Economic Corridor.

The "Center for Chinese Language and Professional Skills" adopts a talent cultivation model that integrates industry and education, and achieves precise alignment between educational resources and enterprise needs through university-enterprise cooperation. It provides multi-level Chinese language courses, and vocational skills training in mechanical and electrical equipment maintenance, safety production, and management, and offers students with a learning platform that combines practice and theory.

It has successfully hosted multiple "Chinese Bridge" Delegation Online programs and educators' tours in China, providing Thai students with opportunities to deepen their understanding of Chinese culture and to learn Chinese language, as well as enhanced exchanges and understanding between young people from the two countries.

The promotion meeting for the "Center for Chinese Language and Professional Skills" and the opening ceremony of the 2023 "Chinese Bridge" Delegation Online program were held at Shandong Polytechnic College, where 247 students from Thailand, ROK, UK and other countries gathered in the cloud, officially launching the "Chinese + TVET" exchange.

The Thai educator delegation visits the training center of an automotive engineering college to experience new energy vehicles, VR training, and drone operation.

Working together with Chinese enterprises such as Winhere (Thailand) Co., Ltd., the "Center for Chinese Language and Professional Skills" has established an international "order-based class" to cultivate numerous urgently-needed local technical talents for Chinese enterprises, effectively driving students' employment and career development.

"Center for Chinese Language and Professional Skills" offers Chinese language courses for degree students majoring in Electrical Automation Technology, including comprehensive Chinese language courses, Chinese listening and speaking courses, HSK preparation courses, and courses on general Chinese culture.

The "Center for Chinese Language and Professional Skills" is a platform for language education and an important window for cultural exchange between China and Thailand. Through various cultural activities and experience courses, Thai students' understanding of and interest in Chinese culture have been enhanced, and mutual understanding and friendship between the two peoples deepened.

The Center for Chinese Language and Professional Skills at Chonburi Technological College will continue to expand its influence in education, culture, economy and other fields, further integrate educational resources from China and Thailand, and provide high-quality Chinese language education and vocational skills training for a wider range of students through online education platforms and other means. At the same time, it will deepen cooperation with enterprises, explore talent training models that meet market demands, and provide students with more practice opportunities to improve their vocational skills and employment competitiveness.
