As China and Africa continue to deepen their cooperation in the field of humanities and education, more and more African people begin to understand Chinese culture through learning Chinese. As of now, 17 countries in Africa have incorporated the Chinese language into their national education systems. Over 60 universities have set up Chinese language departments or majors, and 67 Confucius Institutes and 46 Confucius Classrooms have been opened with partners. Africa has become one of the regions with the fastest progress and most vitality in terms of international Chinese language education.

For many years, the Center for Language Education and Cooperation (CLEC) has been committed to high-quality development of international Chinese language education in Africa and selected and dispatched over 8,500 international Chinese language teachers and volunteer Chinese language teachers to work in Africa. Its brand programs such as "Chinese Bridge", "International Chinese Language Teachers Scholarship", "China Studies Program," and "Chinese + TVET" have been carried out to continuously cultivate tens of thousands of local China-Africa envoys of friendship, who are proficient in Chinese language and knowledgeable about China, so as to contribute to the construction of Africa and China-Africa friendly cooperation.

中非人民之间有着深厚的友谊，人才培养合作是中非合作的重要内容之一。截至目前，非洲有17个国家将中文纳入国民教育体系，60余所大学开设中文系或中文专业，各国积极合作开设孔子学院（课堂），已开设67所孔子学院、46个孔子课堂。非洲成为全球国际中文教育发展最快、最具活力的地区之一，数以万计的毕业生成为建设非洲、促进中非友好的中坚力量。

近年来，语合中心全力支持非洲各国中文教育事业发展，国际中文教师和志愿者配合助力非洲国家开展中文教学，组织多种形式本土师资研修，积极开展“汉语桥”比赛和团组、新汉学计划、国际中文教师奖学金等项目，支持本土教材开发、90个HSK考点开展中文考试服务等。

2023年4月，非洲首家“中文智慧教室”正式投入使用，开启中文教育数字化、智能化时代。2023年11月，HSK留学中国与就业展首次走进非洲大陆。

基于非洲各国经济社会发展和应用人才培养培训需求，语合中心不断探索“中文+职业技能”教育发展新模式，培养既懂中文又掌握技能的复合型人才。目前已在非洲建立中文工坊12所，中文学习测试中心9家。

语言在促进中非人文交流、民心相通中发挥了重要作用。语合中心积极致力于为非洲各国民众学习中文提供优质服务，为进一步促进中非语言交流合作、更好服务中非命运共同体建设作出新的贡献。

In response to local demand, the CLEC actively explores "Chinese + TVET" model to cultivate versatile talents who understand Chinese language and master skills. With smart teaching technology, it provides new solutions for international Chinese language teaching in Africa in the digital age. It cooperates with Chinese-funded enterprises overseas to launch innovative TV teaching programs, and provide high-quality teaching resources for Chinese language learners in Africa.

In response to overseas demand, the Center for Language Education and Cooperation (CLEC) launched the "Chinese + TVET" program in 2020 to promote the integrated development of international Chinese language education and vocational education. Based on tailored "Chinese +" courses, it has innovatively set up the Center for Chinese Language and Professional Skills and cooperated with Chinese-funded enterprises overseas and domestic universities to cultivate versatile talents. Twelve Centers for Chinese Language and Professional Skills have been established in eight African countries, which provide practical learning experiences for Chinese language learners, and expand the application fields of Chinese language education.

Chinese Smart Classroom

Applying the Internet, big data, cloud computing, Internet of Things, AI, virtual reality and other technologies to international Chinese language teaching, "Chinese Smart Classroom" is a new platform for learning Chinese, understanding China and experiencing Chinese culture. Relying on smart large screens, it adopts a new mode of such as "simultaneous on-screen interaction", "joint teaching of Chinese and foreign teachers" and "integration of both online and offline methods". With the help of a smart and multimedia teaching environment, it presents rich and colorful teaching and cultural resources and serves global Chinese language education. In April 2023, the first Chinese Smart Classroom in Africa was put into use at the Universidade Eduardo Mondlane in Mozambique. New multimedia devices and teaching methods provide new solutions for local Chinese language education in the digital age, offer efficient and flexible learning methods to students, and inject new vitality into cultural exchanges and cooperation between China and Mozambique.

TV Programmes

The CLEC and Star Times Group jointly launched Happy Chinese and Hello Chinese, the Chinese language teaching TV programmes for African countries, to provide better services for African people to learn Chinese language and understand China, and to contribute to mutual understanding and friendship between Chinese and African people.

Happy Chinese carefully selected high-quality teaching resources such as HSK and YCT standard courses suitable for Chinese language learners from scratch, highlighting fun and practicality, and its content better fits local viewing habits. The programme is broadcast through the StarTimes Africa Digital Television Network during prime time on ST Kids and ST Sino Drama and achieves synchronous live streaming on the StarTimes ON streaming platform.

Introducing Chinese language and culture to audiences in sub-Saharan Africa, Hello Chinese includes Chinese learning, Chinese culture, and Chinese brand activities. Through the narration of African hosts, it presents the unique charm of Chinese language and culture to African audiences, and high-quality teaching resources to local Chinese language learners. The programme is broadcast on the ST Sino Drama and ST Guide of StarTimes. In addition, it established the Hello Chinese section on the StarTimes new media platform to link larger television screens and smaller mobile phone screens for simultaneous broadcasting. Mobile users could log in to the StarTimes ON app at any time to watch exciting programmes on demand.
